About Ellen Avigail
A.K.A. The Body Whisperer
I used to have a high-powered career in NYC working 60-hour weeks.
Until the internet bubble burst.
So, I opened a home store where I imported goods from Turkey. I worked every day for 5 months straight and then 6 days a week after that.
Then in 2004, the universe gave me the most incredible gift….
I was hospitalized for a non-cancerous brain tumor. At the hospital, I had a brain hemorrhage.
My life came to a screeching halt.
I closed the store and embarked on a 20+ year rehab journey to relearn how to walk, talk, write, use a knife, sit up et cetera.
Along the way, I discovered that healing requires a team and that any one modality does not have all the answers. So over the years, I have utilized balance therapy, vision therapy, more physical therapy, acupuncture, reiki, EFT, Feldenkrais, kinesiology, yoga and qigong.
Now the reason I say the universe gave me a gift is because I was given a shortcut for getting out of my mind and into my body.
I teach people to develop a relationship with their bodies. So they start to hear the messages from their body and be guided from the wisdom within.
This kind of relationship is necessary for everyone but especially those who are ailing, anxious, depressed, indecisive, or in any physical or emotional pain.
I combine breathwork, qigong movements, visualization, sound and Taoist teachings so you start to feel safe in your body and begin to heal.
I am a Spring Forest Qigong Certified Practice Group Leader and Trainer.

Letting Go Meditation
Letting go means different things to different people. There’s thoughts you may want to let go. Maybe a way of thinking has been holding you back. There could be events, emotions or emotions about those events you want to let go. Maybe you are holding on to anger, resentment, anxiety or insecurity.
No matter what you are holding onto, that negative energy is going to show up in your body. It will be apparent in your “natural” breath. Therefore, this meditation focuses on physically letting go. It brings your awareness to tension you have been holding onto for so long that you may not even realize it.
In Spring Forest Qigong, we breathe with a technique called “belly breathing.” Thousands of years ago, the Qigong masters developed this method after they observed babies breathing. So it’s not so much that you are learning a new technique as much as you are reminding your body how you used to breathe.
Master Chunyi Lin, the creator of SFQ teaches us simplicity in everything we do. He says, “It’s easy, you just let go. That’s it. Just…let…go.”

My wife and I came to our first Qigong class as complete beginners, but any concerns we had about learning the form were quickly put to rest by Ellen’s skillful teaching. Her clear guidance and confidence in both herself and our ability to learn made us feel completely at ease. By the end of our session, we felt refreshed and revitalized—a testament to Ellen’s mastery of Qigong and her attentiveness to careful, supportive instruction.

I met Ellen 4 months ago and worked with her twice a week to cure myself of debilitating ear ringing. Her dedication to her practice, along with her intelligence, warmth and kindness made it possible for me to heal myself and discover a whole new way of being.

Ellen is an excellent teacher for Qigong, combining compassion and knowledge using Zoom to introduce all 5 movements in each 1-hour class. After several sessions the movements become familiar and easier to remember. She is always considerate of physical difficulties in her students and encourages participation even if it is necessary to do the exercises sitting or even lying down. She combines the physical exercises with guided meditation at the end. It is definitely helping to remove emotional blockages and to allow myself more freedom of expression. After the session I feel relaxed and energized.
