About Ellen
Ellen Cohen is a Spring Forest Qigong Certified Practice Group Leader and Trainer.
In 2004, Ellen was hospitalized for a non-cancerous brain tumor. At the hospital, she had a brain hemorrhage. As a result, she had to relearn how to walk, talk, write, use a knife, sit up et cetera.
On her healing journey, she discovered that healing requires a team. One modality does not have all the answers. So, over the years, she has tried balance therapy, vision therapy, physical therapy, acupuncture, reiki, Feldenkrais, kinesiology and yoga.
In 2019, she was introduced to Master Chunyi Lin and Spring Forest Qigong. Since then, she’s added Spring Forest Qigong as part of her healing team. Very quickly her dizziness and balance improved and she experienced many changes that she hadn’t even been counting on. Her depression subsided, her patience increased and she no longer wanted sugar of any kind.
Ellen is committed to spreading Master Lin’s vision of “a healer in every home and a world without pain and suffering.” And she is truly in awe of how technology is enabling that vision.
Letting Go Meditation
Letting go means different things to different people. There’s thoughts you may want to let go. Maybe a way of thinking has been holding you back. There could be events, emotions or emotions about those events you want to let go. Maybe you are holding on to anger, resentment, anxiety or insecurity.
No matter what you are holding onto, that negative energy is going to show up in your body. It will be apparent in your “natural” breath. Therefore, this meditation focuses on physically letting go. It brings your awareness to tension you have been holding onto for so long that you may not even realize it.
In Spring Forest Qigong, we breathe with a technique called “belly breathing.” Thousands of years ago, the Qigong masters developed this method after they observed babies breathing. So it’s not so much that you are learning a new technique as much as you are reminding your body how you used to breathe.
Master Chunyi Lin, the creator of SFQ teaches us simplicity in everything we do. He says, “It’s easy, you just let go. That’s it. Just…let…go.”

My wife and I came to our first Qigong class as complete beginners, but any concerns we had about learning the form were quickly put to rest by Ellen’s skillful teaching. Her clear guidance and confidence in both herself and our ability to learn made us feel completely at ease. By the end of our session, we felt refreshed and revitalized—a testament to Ellen’s mastery of Qigong and her attentiveness to careful, supportive instruction.

I met Ellen 4 months ago and worked with her twice a week to cure myself of debilitating ear ringing. Her dedication to her practice, along with her intelligence, warmth and kindness made it possible for me to heal myself and discover a whole new way of being.

Ellen Cohen is an excellent teacher for Qigong, combining compassion and knowledge using Zoom to introduce all 5 movements in each 1-hour class. After several sessions the movements become familiar and easier to remember. She is always considerate of physical difficulties in her students and encourages participation even if it is necessary to do the exercises sitting or even lying down. She combines the physical exercises with guided meditation at the end. It is definitely helping to remove emotional blockages and to allow myself more freedom of expression. After the session I feel relaxed and energized.
