What is Qigong?

Qigong is a practice of learning how energy works in your body, balancing energy and cultivating energy, so you can heal yourself physically, emotionally and spiritually.

These techniques have been practiced for over 7000 years.

“Qi” means energy and “Gong” means work. So we are literally working with energy. However, Qi is not defined simply as energy because Qi also has an intelligence, a consciousness.

In Chinese medicine, it is taught that qi is running through channels in our bodies. The concept is that all Qi is intended to flow smoothly and continuously; to be in harmony and in balance with the universe.

What is Spring Forest Qigong?

Spring Forest Qigong was created by Master Chunyi Lin based on the five element system of Chinese medicine.

The five element system is the cornerstone of Chinese medicine. There are emotions and organ systems that are associated with each of the 5 elements. When you focus on the positive emotion for a specific element, you can literally transform the energy associated with that system.

Master Lin realized that the most effective form of qigong is simple and he created Spring Forest Qigong with the vision of “Everyone was born a healer. A healer in every home and a world without pain and suffering.”

Spring Forest Qigong is simple to learn and is updated to reflect our modern, western lifestyles.

Why practice SFQ?

When qi flows smoothly in the body, life is good and you are physically and mentally healthy. When the flow of qi is interrupted, energy blockages form and can lead to physical or mental health problems.

So we practice Qigong to help the qi in the body flow freely. This way the body stays in balance and healthy, which helps prevent energy blockages. It can also help heal energy blockages when the body is sick.

SFQ is designed to with the principles “good, better, best.” It is for all body types and levels of fitness from a hospital patient to a professional athlete. You can practice SFQ sitting, standing or lying down.
